Retired Judge and former City Vice Mayor Jorge D. Cabalit was reelected last Saturday as president of the Bohol Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association, Inc. (BKCFAI) during an election held at the Alpinia Hall, JJ’s Seafood Village, Tagbilaran City.
Other reelected officers were Teodorico Daganato, fraternal treasurer; and Obdulio Caturza,Jr., Mortuary Aid System treasurer.
Elected as new officers were Agripino Marimon, Jr., vice president; Baclayon Municipal Councilor Edilberto Salamat, Jr., secretary; former Garcia-Hernandez Vice Mayor Miguelito Galendez, auditor; Florencio Talan, Ireneo Guadalquiver, and Florencio Caina, members of the board of trustees.
Ex-officio members of the board of trustees are Edilberto Nuera, assistant diocesan membership and program coordinator (ADMPC) of Bohol East; Homer Balais, ADMPC of Bohol West; Bernardo Pojas, diocesan membership and program coordinator (DMPC) of the Diocese of Talibon; and former Vice Mayor Galendez, DMPC of the Diocese of Tagbilaran.
The BKCFAI also reconstituted its 19 standing committees.
The BKCFAI was organized by the members of the Bohol Knights of Columbus to administer their acquired property.
It has implemented its programs like the mortuary aid system in which it has 1,611 members provincewide as of June 30, 2026.
It has also embarked on charitable projects like the Bundle of Joy which the association has given annual assistance in kind to the Trinity Angels Home for Abandoned Children in Alburquerque, Bohol.
The BKCFAI has been accredited by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tagbilaran and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol.
44,140 beneficiaries in Bohol receive second tranche of Bagong Pilipinas rice

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) — A total of 44,140 beneficiaries from marginalized and vulnerable sectors in 23 local government units (LGUs) in Bohol received the second tranche of rice assistance under the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program from July 14 to 31.
The Bohol provincial government began distributing 10 kilograms of rice per beneficiary to indigent families on July 14.
The program is funded through the national government’s Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FA to LGUs), with a total allocation of P196 million.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced the expanded LGSF at the launch of the “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” program in Malacañang on Feb. 23, 2026, as part of the national government’s effort to address food insecurity and support vulnerable households.
The President ordered the direct release of the funds to LGUs to streamline processes and accelerate implementation.
The provincial government allocated a P11-million counterpart fund, while participating LGUs provided additional support for families not on the initial beneficiary list.
The following LGUs received the second tranche, with the corresponding number of beneficiaries: Alburquerque, 701; Alicia, 1,504; Anda, 1,088; Baclayon, 1,387; Balilihan, 1,204; Bien Unido, 2,000; Candijay, 1,887; Carmen, 3,200; Clarin, 1,503; Corella, 603; Cortes, 1,157; Dauis, 3,607; Dimiao, 952; Garcia Hernandez, 1,500; Maribojoc, 1,358; Pilar, 1,760; President Carlos P. Garcia, 2,071; Sierra Bullones, 1,595; Sikatuna, 430; Tagbilaran City, 3,000; Talibon, 4,457; Ubay, 5,720; and Valencia, 1,456.
Among those who received rice in Maribojoc on July 23 was Mercedita Ladera, 51, a Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiary.
“Nalipay ko kaayo sa gihatag nga ayuda nga bugas kay nakapuno kini sa among konsumo tungod kay 6 me kabuok sa among pamilya. Nagpasalamat ko kay daku kini og ikatabang sa among pamilya isip miyembro sa 4Ps,” Ladera said.

Beneficiaries are drawn from indigent and vulnerable households identified by LGUs under Department of Budget and Management–Department of the Interior and Local Government (DBM-DILG) Joint Circular No. 1, series of 2026, which governs the release and use of LGSF-FA funds for the Assistance to Indigent Individuals or Families–Food Assistance (AIIF-FA) Rice Distribution Project.
The program targets households facing economic hardship or food insecurity, with beneficiary lists validated by local officials.

Coco Agri Asenso links Bohol coconut farmers to markets, financing
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) – The Department of Agriculture–Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) Central Visayas opened the two-day Coco Agri Asenso 2026 on August 5 at the Activity Center of Island City Mall here.
The event brought together coconut farmers, exhibitors, and stakeholders to promote the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) through technology exhibits, value-added coconut products, farm equipment, and training opportunities for Bohol’s coconut farmers and local coconut entrepreneurs.
First-day discussions covered the Coconut Industry Roadmap under the CFIDP, market trends for coconut-based products, and funding and credit opportunities for coconut farmers and businesses.
The second day featured demonstrations of “Coco Wellness” products, technology presentations, and market matching activities connecting local producers with buyers.
Board Member Lucille Lagunay of Bohol’s first district, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Agriculture, represented Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado and read his message.
“To fully maximize the potential of coconut as one of our leading agricultural products, we must continue to empower and capacitate our coconut farmers and other stakeholders so they can cultivate coconut efficiently and effectively,” Aumentado said in the message.
Aumentado also thanked the DA-ATI Regional Training Center VII for leading the activity.
DA-ATI RTC VII Career Development and Management Section Chief Ma. Gracia S. Pungay said the caravan showcases innovative coconut-based products, farming technologies, and support services meant to increase farmers’ income.
Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Region 7 representative Arven Coriba discussed agency programs, projects, and opportunities under the CFIDP and presented regional coconut industry statistics.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bohol representative Yoradel Israel discussed global market trends and business opportunities for coconut-based products.
Israel said every part of the coconut generates economic value through high-demand products such as coconut oil, milk, water, sugar, coir fiber, and activated carbon, a concept she described as “One Coconut, Multiple Value Streams.”
She cited opportunities in functional foods, bio-based materials, natural personal care, and sustainable aviation fuel, and said the Philippines continues to pioneer cococellulose technology.
Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank) Bohol Lending Center Head John Philip Bael presented credit facilities and investment support under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Lending Program.
Agricultural Credit Policy Council representative Eloiza Marie P. Flores presented additional financing programs and credit assistance to improve farmers’ access to capital.
Bohol a finalist in Bayaniyugan Awards
Lagunay said Bohol and Quezon province are finalists for Most Outstanding Provincial Local Government Unit in the Bayaniyugan Awards.

Comelec adds Conflict of Interest declaration to COC for Nov. 2, 2026 BSKE
Officially approved by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) En Banc, is the inclusion of the “Sworn Declaration on Conflict of Interest” in every Certificate of Candidacy (COC) that will be submitted by those running in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on November 2, 2026, and in all succeeding elections.
In the said sworn declaration, a candidate will be guided and will pledge that if elected, he/she will comply with the provisions on conflict of interest under Republic Act Nos. 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act) and 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials).
This specifically reminds them of the prohibition against directly or indirectly acquiring financial or business interests in any contract or transaction that could interfere with his/her service to the government.
The COMELEC clarified that the said move is not an additional qualification or requirement that would hinder those who want to run, but rather a statement of adherence to existing laws and procedures to improve transparency in government.
Under Section 3(i) of RA 6713 and Section 3(h) of RA 3019, it is clearly prohibited for a government official to have any financial interest in a private corporation or business that may conflict with his/her official duties.
Like the submission of a Birth Certificate, the said declaration will serve as a strong reminder to each candidate about their responsibility and the protection of the public interest.
Officials may face arrest warrants over Captain’s Peak graft case
Possible warrants of arrest may be issued at any time against several current and former barangay, municipal, and provincial officials involved in the controversial Captain’s Peak Garden and Resort in Sagbayan, according to sources.
It is said that this may be issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Bohol after the Office of the Ombudsman filed criminal charges due to alleged violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
If the court issues a warrant, the accused may post bail.
However, according to sources, the hearing of the case may possibly be transferred to the anti-graft court in Leyte to avoid possible influence in Bohol.
The case is related to the controversial construction and expansion of Captain’s Peak Garden and Resort inside the protected area of the Chocolate Hills, which allegedly had no Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) and other required permits under the National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) Act.
Bohol chocolate featured in SONA 2026
The quality of chocolate made in Bohol was once again showcased on the national stage after it was included in the handcrafted token kits given to officials and guests during the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The chocolate bonbons made from premium Bohol chocolates and flavored with local ingredients such as calamansi, coconut, mango and pineapple were first showcased during the ASEAN 2026 meetings in Cebu before they were included in SONA 2026.
According to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Albay, the inclusion of Bohol chocolates in the said token kits shows the growing recognition of the cacao industry in the province and the efforts of cacao farmers, chocolate makers, processors and those who promote it.
One of the leading advocates of the cacao industry in Bohol is Rose Amores-Hudson of Bohol Chocolate Farm, who continues to develop local cacao and produce quality chocolate that is now also known at the national level.
It is also believed that this recognition aligns with the call of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to strengthen the agriculture sector, increase the value of local products, and expand the market for Filipino products.
For the farmers and chocolate makers in Bohol, the presentation of their products at SONA is another important achievement, showing that the quality of the local chocolate in the province can earn recognition across the country.
Tagbilaran enforces helmet standards
Strict enforcement against the use of substandard helmets in Tagbilaran City began on August 1 to strengthen road safety and protect motorists.
According to City Administrator Alvin Acuzar, the campaign aims to ensure that motorcyclists only use full-face and half-face helmets that have a Philippine Standard (PS) mark or Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) sticker issued by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The use of nut shell helmets, bicycle helmets and other uncertified protective headgear is prohibited.
Those caught violating may face a fine of up to ₱5,000, in accordance with the law and court decision.
Acuzar urged all motorists to comply with the regulation, saying that wearing a standard helmet helps protect lives and reduce injuries in road accidents.
Tagbilaran holds public consultation on motorcycle rental ordinance
Tagbilaran City held a public consultation today, August 3, to discuss the proposed ordinance that will regulate commercial motorcycle rental and self-drive services in the city.
The consultation, which was led by the Committee on Peace, Public Order and Safety under Councilor Fausto S. Budlong, was held at 9 in the morning at JJ’s Seafood Village on K of C Drive, Gallares Street.
The hearing discussed Proposed Ordinance No. 24-26, which sets out the rules and penalties for motorcycle rental and self-drive operators.
City and barangay officials, police, traffic authorities, transport groups, tourism stakeholders, civil society organizations, and operators of motorcycle, car, and electric bike rental were invited to attend.
According to Councilor Budlong, the consultation aims to gather suggestions and recommendations from the affected sectors before proceeding with the discussion of the ordinance.
Pilar students taught rice farming through new NIA-PhilRice demo farm
The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region VII and the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) launched the NIA-CARLIM IA Rice Demonstration Farm in the Municipality of Pilar, Bohol last week to teach farmers how to conserve water and improve yields amid the threats of El Niño and climate change.
Located on a 4,000-square-meter area within the Malinao Irrigation System, the said demonstration will serve as a study and training facility for the 1st Wet Cropping Season of 2027, with harvest expected in the last week of October.
The main technology being showcased is Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD), where water is given only when needed instead of continuously flooding the field.
According to Engr. Maria Donesa A. Autida, Operations Section Chief of NIA, wise water management is now a necessity.
Through AWD, farmers can conserve irrigation water, make crops more resilient to drought, and expand the area that can be served by irrigation without compromising yield volume.
Aside from AWD, the demonstration also presented the complete package of modern rice farming, such as the use of certified seeds, proper fertilizer management, integrated pest management, and the use of machinery for planting and harvesting.
The Planting Festival was also a success with the participation of 20 students from Pilar Central Elementary School and Pilar Technical Vocational High School to experience both manual and mechanized planting and harvesting.
According to Engr. Maritez I. Soria, IMO Manager of NIA Bohol-Cebu-Siquijor, the goal is to share with the youth the importance of agriculture and to encourage them to see farming as a dignified and modern profession for the country’s food security.
Catigbian gets ₱2.66m financial aid from capitol for local projects
A total of ₱2.66 million in funds from the Provincial Government of Bohol led by Erico Aris Aumentado, through the Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO) and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, was released to fund various priority projects in the municipality of Catigbian.
The allocation was divided among six barangays that received funds for facilities such as the completion of the covered court in Brgy. Mantacida (₱1M), improvement of the multi-purpose hall in Brgy. Ambuan (₱200K), road graveling in Brgy. Causwagan Norte (₱200K), and other barangay infrastructure projects.
In addition to this, the 22 barangays in the municipality also each received ₱30,000, confirming a total of ₱660,000 in barangay aid for their respective needs.

Gov. Aris praises BPPO for success in police community relations
Gov. Aris Aumentado praised the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) for its achievements in police-community relations and pledged that the Provincial Government will continue its support to maintain peace and order in the province.
In his message during the culmination of the 31st Police Community Relations (PCR) Month led by the BPPO, Aumentado, as chairperson of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), expressed his gratitude to the police for strengthening trust and cooperation with the community.
The Governor also commended PRO-7 Regional Director PBGen. Arnold Abad and BPPO Provincial Director PCol. Patricio Degay Jr. for leading the development of police-community partnership programs in Central Visayas.
Gov. Aumentado congratulated this year’s awardees, including the BPPO as Outstanding PCAD Police Provincial Office, Tagbilaran City Police Station as Outstanding PCAD City Police Station, Talibon Municipal Police Station as Outstanding PCAD Municipal Police Station, and PMaj. Councilor Casane pushes for transparency on scrapped ₱1.3m Panglao contract
Panglao Councilor Analyn Casane called for greater transparency regarding the cancelled ₱1.3 million contract for the August 17 activity, part of the town’s fiesta, saying the public deserves to know how people’s money was spent.
In her privilege speech at the Sangguniang Bayan, Casane said she was not against the celebration but against the contract amount, which she considered excessive and in need of careful review.
Although the proposal was approved by the majority, she was surprised that the contract was just cancelled.
According to her, if the process was correct and transparent from the beginning, the reason for cancelling the contract should be explained.
She also clarified that these were only questions and not accusations.
Casane urged municipal officials to release the procurement documents, quotations, contract and other related records to prove that the law was followed and that there was no conflict of interest.
She also congratulated Councilor Bompat on his new role as head of the Tourism, Culture and Arts and Engineering Department, but emphasized that these positions require a high level of integrity and transparency.
According to Casane, her statement aims to protect public funds and the integrity of the local government, urging officials to strengthen public trust through open and transparent governance.
World Bank loan for Bohol Bulk Water project approved
The loan from the World Bank for the Bohol Bulk Water Supply and Sanitation Project has been approved, prompting Governor Erico Aris Aumentado and provincial officials to immediately meet with representatives of the World Bank to prepare for the implementation of the landmark project.
The pre-implementation coordination meeting was held on August 3, 2026, at the Office of the Governor.
During the meeting, World Bank Senior Water Specialist Ma. Fiorella Fabella presented the crucial updates regarding the approved funding.
The officials also discussed the main strategies to encourage local government units (LGU) to fully benefit from the water supply.
Present during the preparation for implementation were Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Handel Lagunay, Chief of Staff Atty. Filipina Asoy-Piollo, and Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) Coordinator Angelus Sales.
Also with them were Geographic Information System Specialist Julious Cabillo, POIEL Engineering representative Roger Vergara, and PPDO technical staff member Christopher Uy.
The initiative aims to improve access to safe water and sanitation facilities across Bohol by strengthening the capability of local water service providers and expanding service to households and communities.
Gov. Aumentado expressed his great gratitude to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the World Bank for the approval of the major funding.
The governor explained that this important project directly supports his Strategic Change Agenda for the sustainable development of the province as the country’s first UNESCO Global Geopark and a Regenerative Island.
BPPO urges young Boholanos to join PMPA cadet admission test 2026
The Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) urged qualified young Boholanos to join the Philippine National Police Academy Cadet Admission Test (PNPACAT) 2026 to pursue a career in policing and public safety.
BPPO Provincial Director PCol. Patricio Degay Jr. reminded applicants to take advantage of the opportunity that provides free education and professional training for future leaders of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Those who pass the examination will receive a four-year full scholarship at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), including free tuition, board and lodging, and will earn a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety (BSPS) degree.
After graduation, they will become Police Lieutenant in the PNP.
Applications are open from June 1 to September 30, 2026, while the PNPACAT will be held on October 25, 2026.
Applicants must be natural-born Filipino citizens, 18 to 22 years old on or before May 1, 2027, senior high school graduates with at least an 85 percent grade, single, with no children or legal obligations, and of good moral character.
They must also meet the minimum height of 5’2” for males and 5’0” for females, have a normal Body Mass Index (BMI), and have no criminal record.
Interested individuals may apply online through http://www.pnpacatoas.com and prepare the required documents such as PSA birth certificate, 2×2 photo, and Form 137 or Form 138.
According to Degay, only 37 applicants have registered so far, so he encouraged more young Boholanos to try this opportunity because the testing center is now in Bohol and they no longer need to go to Cebu.
Degay thanked Bohol Governor Aris Aumentado for his support in bringing the PNPA testing center to the province after the examination in Cebu was cancelled last year due to a typhoon that prevented applicants from traveling.
The provincial police director also thanked First District Representative John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II and Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap for their support in holding the examination at Tagbilaran City College (TCC).
Degay said the local testing center will help encourage more qualified young Boholanos to pursue a career in public safety and service to the country.
99 helmet violators caught in first three days of strict helmet drive in Tagbilaran
A total of 99 motorists were caught for using non-prescribed or no helmet in just the first three days of the strict implementation of the helmet ordinance in Tagbilaran City.
According to PLt. Col. Joey Bicoy, chief of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, the 99 helmet violators were part of the 195 traffic citations issued from August 1 to 3, after the campaign against substandard helmets was officially implemented.
Aside from helmet violations, police also recorded 44 cases of no OR/CR, 33 for no driver’s license, 7 for wearing slippers while riding a motorcycle, 5 for no side mirror, 4 for no plate, and 3 for not wearing a seat belt.
According to Bicoy, the operation aims to strengthen compliance with traffic laws, reduce road accidents, and protect the life and safety of the public.
The campaign follows City Ordinance No. C-386, Series of 2025, which was authored by former Councilor Eliezer Borja, as part of the city’s continuing campaign against the use of substandard helmets.

Bohol sees 22.78% drop in focus crimes in first 7 months of 2026 — Degay
Focus crimes in Bohol dropped by 22.78 percent in the first seven months of 2026, according to Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) Provincial Director PCol. Patricio Degay Jr.
He said total focus crime incidents decreased to 244 from 316 in the same period in 2025, or 72 fewer cases.
The data covers January 1 to July 25 of both years.
Degay added that seven out of eight focus crime categories recorded a decrease, while there were no recorded cases of motor vehicle carnapping in both comparative periods.
Robbery had the biggest percentage decrease, from 31 to 13 cases or 58.06 percent, followed by homicide which dropped from seven to three cases or 57.14 percent.
Rape had the largest decrease in number of cases, down by 20 cases, from 73 to 53 or 27.40 percent.
Murder also decreased from 18 to 14, motorcycle carnapping from 10 to seven, physical injury from 93 to 78, and theft from 84 to 76 cases.
Degay said the continued decline in criminality is the result of stronger police visibility, intensified anti-criminality operations, and closer cooperation between the police and the community.
He added that the BPPO will continue to strengthen crime prevention measures, intelligence-driven operations, and community engagement to sustain the reduction of criminality across the province.
Man arrested in buy-bust for illegal cigarette sale in Talibon
A 30-year-old man identified as “Clark” was arrested by police in a buy-bust operation in Purok 7, Barangay San Francisco, Talibon at 12:30 in the afternoon, August 4, for allegedly selling cigarettes without the required graphic health warnings.
The operation was conducted by the Bohol Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA) under Maj. Bonifacio W. Tañola Jr., in coordination with the Talibon Municipal Police Station.
The suspect was alleged to have violated Section 10 of Republic Act 10643 (Graphic Health Warnings Law), in relation to RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act) and RA 8424 (National Internal Revenue Code).
After the successful purchase by the poseur-buyer of one ream of Redwood Superior Ice Blast cigarettes, the operatives signaled and arrested the suspect.
Recovered during the operation were ₱500 in marked money, one ream of cigarettes sold in the operation worth ₱600, 27 reams worth ₱16,200, and two packs of the same brand worth ₱200.
The suspect and the evidence were brought to Bohol MARPSTA for documentation and for the filing of charges for violation of the Graphic Health Warnings Law and other applicable cases.

A 20-year-old student surrendered to police on August 4 and admitted that she dumped the body of her newborn baby in a trash bin after giving birth in her boarding house.
The student is a second-year college student and resident of Calape, Bohol.
According to the investigation, she arrived at the Buenavista Municipal Police Station at 7:40 in the morning, together with her mother, and voluntarily admitted that she gave birth to a baby boy who was about seven months in the womb inside her boarding house.
In her statement, the infant was already dead when she gave birth.
She also said that she hid her pregnancy from her parents out of fear and, in her panic, she placed the infant’s body in a trash bin in Sitio Tugbongan, Barangay Cangawa, Buenavista, where it was later found.
According to police, the student appeared weak and pale when she surrendered, so she was immediately brought to Francisco Dagohoy Hospital in Inabanga for medical treatment.
The infant is currently at Holy Name Funeral Homes in Barangay Sweetland, Buenavista.
The police investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident and what possible charges may be filed.
25 year old man arrested in Benguet for two statutory rape cases in Bohol
A 25-year-old man accused of two counts of statutory rape was arrested in a joint law enforcement operation by members of the Tracker Team of the Jagna Municipal Police Station, with the help of the Buguias Police Station in the province of Benguet.
The suspect was identified as Fernando Daan Dagangon, 25 years old, and a resident of Purok 6, Barangay Karap-an, Cabungaan, Jagna, Bohol.
He was arrested in Barangay Abatan, Buguias, Benguet.
The police served the warrant of arrest issued by Executive Judge Samuel A. Biliran of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 50 in Loay, Bohol, dated April 21, 2026.
Dagangon is facing two counts of statutory rape.
According to the police, no bail was recommended by the court for the said cases.
At present, the accused is in the custody of the Buguias Police Station in Benguet while waiting for the next legal proceedings.
Drug pusher arrested in Talibon buy-bust; ₱42k worth of shabu seized
A 30-year-old man identified by police as a street-level individual (SLI) and drug pusher was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Purok 1, Barangay Balintawak, Talibon on August 3, where suspected shabu worth ₱42,840 was seized.
The operation was conducted by the Municipal Drug Enforcement Team of the Talibon Police Station through a buy-bust operation that resulted in the arrest of “Romark”, 30 years old, married, unemployed, resident of Purok 1, Barangay San Francisco, Talibon, Bohol, and identified by police as a street-level individual (SLI) and drug pusher.
Seized during the operation were six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
One of these, weighing 1.18 grams, was sold to the poseur-buyer, while the other five sachets with a total weight of 5.12 grams were recovered from the possession of the suspect.
Police also recovered one marked ₱500 bill used as buy-bust money and one green Mighty cigarette case used to hide the suspected illegal drugs.
The total weight of the seized suspected shabu is 6.3 grams with a standard drug price (SDP) of ₱42,840.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Talibon Police Station, while the seized evidence will be sent to the Bohol Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.
Charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are also being prepared against him.
Newly identified drug suspect arrested in Dagohoy buy-bust, over ₱14k in shabu seized
A 38-year-old farmer identified by police as a newly identified street-level individual (SLI) was arrested in a buy-bust operation in the town of Dagohoy after being caught with more than 2 grams of suspected shabu worth ₱14,212.
The operation was conducted on August 2 in Purok Rosas, Barangay San Miguel, Dagohoy, by members of the Dagohoy Municipal Police Station led by PMAJ Marocs A. Lopez, station chief.
The arrested person was alias “Eba”, 38 years old, single, farmer and resident of Purok 3, Barangay Caluasan, Dagohoy, Bohol.
He was identified by police as a newly identified street-level individual (SLI) involved in illegal drugs.
Seized during the operation were one heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu that was sold to the poseur buyer, another sachet of suspected shabu taken from the possession of the suspect, and the ₱500 marked money used in the buy-bust operation.
All the suspected shabu has a total gross weight of 2.09 grams and a standard drug price of ₱14,212.
The recovered suspected shabu was submitted to the Bohol Provincial Forensic Unit in Tagbilaran City for laboratory examination and custody, while the suspect is detained at the Dagohoy Municipal Police Station and charges are being prepared for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Gun seller arrested in Tagbilaran City buy-bust, firearm and shabu seized
A 22-year-old unemployed man was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bool, Tagbilaran City after he was caught in the alleged sale of an unlicensed .45-caliber pistol, while suspected shabu was also confiscated from his possession, according to the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO).
The operation was conducted on August 2 in Purok 8, Barangay Bool, by operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of BPPO led by PLT Dave Surio and PLT Noubell L. Padernal, under the direct supervision of PLTCOL Joemar S. Pomarejos, chief of PIU/Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, with the cooperation of the Tagbilaran City Police Station.
The arrested person was “Andre”, 22 years old, single and resident of Purok 7, Poblacion I, Tagbilaran City.
The suspect was caught in the act of selling a Taurus .45-caliber pistol with serial number 524743 without the required license or authorization, which led to his arrest for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Upon inspection, approximately one gram of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of ₱6,800 was also recovered from him, which led to an additional case for alleged violation of Section 11 of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Among those recovered during the operation were the Taurus .45-caliber pistol, one steel magazine, three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, one genuine ₱1,000 bill used as marked money placed on top of nine boodle ₱1,000 bills, one black Techno cellular phone, and one gray and white backpack believed to have been used to carry the firearm and illegal drugs.
Police have already prepared charges for violation of RA 10591 and Section 11 of RA 9165 against the suspect who is currently detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station.
Jagna buy-bust nets watchlisted suspect, ₱39k in shabu confiscated
A 24-year-old watchlisted drug personality was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Distrito 3, Barangay Looc, Jagna on August 4, where suspected shabu worth ₱39,440 was also seized.
The operation was conducted by the Jagna Drug Enforcement Team led by PCPT Dary Peter Anthony Cerillo Apurada, Officer-in-Charge of the Jagna Police Station, and the arrested person was “Jharvie”, 24 years old, single, resident of Distrito 2, Barangay Looc, Jagna, and identified by police as a street-level individual (SLI) and watchlisted drug personality.
Seized during the operation were five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, including one sachet bought by the poseur-buyer and four more sachets taken from his possession.
Police also seized one Mentos metal container used to hide the four sachets of suspected shabu, one marked ₱500 bill used as buy-bust money, and one red and black Rusi motorcycle without a plate together with its key.
Police estimated that the seized suspected shabu has a weight of 5.80 grams and a standard drug price of ₱39,440.
The suspect was brought to the Jagna Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and custody while the seized suspected shabu and other evidence will be sent to the Bohol Provincial Forensic Unit at Camp Francisco Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City for laboratory examination and charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the suspect.
