The question sent by a reader is: “Who among the “FANTASTIC 4” (Azcuna, Davide, Panganiban, and Puno) convinced you most?

CJ Panganiban where he gave a very simple analogy: “a parent must sit them down and listen to both sides before deciding who is at fault and handing out discipline”. He added that senators who have been continuously absent have no basis for rendering a fair judgment thus the 2/3 must be computed base on the members of the senate who had firsthand observation of the trial. One important factor in determining whether witness is credible is by observing his demeanor because one sees body language, tone, and reactions firsthand.

∙ from Gerard Mark Buma-at: A Chief Justice’s primary allegiance is to the Rule of Law (lex supra omnem)—the principle that no individual, regardless of rank or political affiliation, is above the law, and that laws must be applied predictably and consistently. If I was the senator judge I would ask them for clarification in regard to the very unpopular declaration of a senator during a senate hearing about bending the law in order to satisfy the will of the people. To settle the issue, it would have been the perfect time to ask the retired justices if it’s okay to bend the law? I am curious if what would be their answers.
