UB Launches 9-Court Pickleball Facility
Adding to the growing number of pickleball facilities in the city, the University of Bohol (UB) has opened 9 pickleball courts at the UB Multi-Purpose Covered Court of the Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center (VDTALC) Campus in Taloto District, Tagbilaran City.
The new facility forms part of the University’s continuing wellness program, providing students and employees with accessible opportunities for physical activity, recreation, and healthy social interaction.
The formal opening of the facility commenced with a Dedication Ceremony, held on September 18, 2026, marking another milestone in the University’s efforts to promote a culture of wellness and an active lifestyle within the UB community.
With pickleball’s growing popularity, the new courts are expected to give UB students, faculty, employees, alumni, and the general public a venue to exercise regularly while fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The opening of UPlay further underscores the University’s commitment to creating spaces that promote not only academic excellence but also the physical well-being and holistic development of the UB community. The facility is also open to the public, providing the wider community with access to a dedicated space for recreation and physical activity.

UB Student Places 9th in Nursing Licensure Exam
Zairus Sanneil Tarpin Gilay, an alumnus of the University of Bohol (UB) College of Health and Allied Sciences (CAHS) – Nursing Department, has added another distinction to the department’s list of topnotchers after placing 9th in the August 2026 Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE) held in Cebu City.
Gilay, who hails from Baclayon, Bohol, posted a rating of 90.60%.
According to CAHS Dean Dr. Myrna B. Bernaldez, a total of 276 examinees from the University successfully passed the licensure examination, posting an 84.66% passing rate, higher than the 76.69% national passing rate.
Gilay’s achievement further highlights the Nursing Department’s continuing record of producing high-performing nursing graduates in the national licensure examination. (Leo Armando Boncales)
