Francisco Salazar Street, which traverses Barangays Ubujan and Tiptip, is now brighter and safer.
This follows the installation of new street lights by the City Government of Tagbilaran.
Mayor Jane Yap led the ceremonial switching on of the new lights on September 29, 2026.
She was joined by Barangay Ubujan officials led by Barangay Captain Mary Jane Ruiz.
Also present were Barangay Tiptip officials headed by Barangay Captain Jeminador Lantape and members of the barangay council.
City Engineer Teodoro Estoque also joined the activity.
The street lighting project forms part of the city government’s continuing efforts to improve road visibility and enhance public safety.
It particularly benefits roads used by pedestrians, commuters, and motorists.
Yap said the city continues to install modern and energy-efficient street lights in areas where improved illumination is needed.
“The City of Tagbilaran continues to install new street lights aimed at improving visibility and safety for both residents and visitors,” Yap said.
“We are installing modern and energy-efficient street lights that generate brighter and longer-lasting light,” she added.
The improved lighting is expected to provide better visibility for pedestrians, commuters, and motorists.
This is especially important along portions of the road with regular vehicular and foot traffic.
Yap also said brighter streets could help discourage criminal activity.
She explained that better lighting reduces poorly illuminated areas and makes roads and surrounding spaces more visible at night.
The project is part of a series of street-lighting initiatives being implemented across the city.
In recent months, street lights were also upgraded along Enerio Street in Barangay Dampas.
Upgrades were also completed along Dagohoy Street in Barangays Manga and Tiptip, and along Buhion Street in Barangays San Isidro and Cabawan.
The continuing upgrades aim to improve road visibility and contribute to safer and better-lit streets in different parts of Tagbilaran City.
