Panglao mayor Leonila Paredes Montero attends and delivers a message during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the owner of Almira Diving Resort. The same event also saw the signing of the Deed of Usufruct between BFP and the President of Asperen Realty Corporation.The event happened on Oct. 12, 2021 at Almira Diving Resort, Tangnan, Panglao. Dignitaries from the BFP Include Sr. Supt. Manuel G. Golino, Regional Director of BFP – 7, Chief Insp. Raul G. Bustaliño, Provincial Director of BFP Bohol, and Insp. Ben Bradpitt M. Lopez, Acting Municipal Fire Marshall – Panglao, graced the occasion. The BFP has been embarking on a modernization effort following the approval of the agency’s P10 billion modernization law. The signing of agreements in Panglao is one of the offshoots of the BFP’s modernization initiatives. Tangnan will soon host the Marine Fire Search and Rescue (MFSAR) sub-unit. This new sub-unit of BFP will handle the coastal fire emergency responses. It will be using assets like seawater submersible pumps to draw out and use seawater during fire emergencies that may happen along the coastlines of Panglao Island or to help boats, ships, or any seawater craft in peril and located nearby Panglao’s municipal waters. Montero-Caindec is the chairperson of the said ad hoc committee. On Oct. 12, 2021, the vaccination drive was held in barangay Doljo.
