Gov. Arthur Yap announces the going home of 51 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were billeted in a Panglao resort as they have been allowed to go home after the provincial government received the negative PCR test results of the OFWs. The results were released yesterday, the governor said.

Meanwhile, about 69 OFWs and three (3) locally stranded individuals (LSIs) are expected to arrive today, Sunday according to Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, spokesperson of the Technical Working Group (TWG) for new and emerging diseases during a press conference yesterday at the Capitol.

The 51 OFWs mentioned above have already completed their quarantine period after arriving in Bohol last May 9, 2020. The OFWs came from Cebu, and they belong to the second batch of OFWs from Cebu, and the third batch of OFWs who were repatriated in Bohol.

With the negative PCR result, there is no reason for the provincial government to continue keeping the OFWs in their quarantine area. The OFWs may now return directly to their respective families, the governor declared.

On the other hand, Lopez bared that 69 OFWs, presumably coming from Manila, are expected to arrive at the Tagbilaran Tourist Port early morning today, a source told the Bohol Tribune.

According to the Capitol, all 69 OFWs presumably coming from Manila, arrived in Cebu yesterday. These OFWs will be taking another voyage from Cebu to Tagbilaran, and will arrive early this morning here. The arrival of the OFWs is yet to happen as of presstime.

Just last Friday, May 22, a total of 19 OFWs from Cebu and 9 LSIs arrived at the Tagbilaran Tourist Port.

The new batch of OFWs is the fifth overall batch repatriated to Bohol.

Last April 27, 2020 two batches of OFWs, one batch from Manila and the other batch from Cebu, arrived in Bohol.

The batch from Cebu was housed at the Mercedarian Retreat House in Dauis, while the OFWs from Manila were housed in two locations: at the “Crabhouse” and at the Roman Empire resort.

All of the OFWs but one have tested negative and have been allowed to go home.
