Cong. Edgar Chatto filed his Certificate of Candidacy without fanfare on October 7, 2024.

Seeking reelection as first district representative, he was joined by wife Mayor Pureza Veloso-Chatto and daughter Vice Mayor Trisha Chatto at the provincial COMELEC.

In an interview with Bohol media immediately after filing, Chatto said he is excited for the upcoming election.

“Every three years, elections are held; which pave the way for the next term of service,” he said, with the hope for a successful and peaceful conduct of the elections.

“I am very willing to serve for my last term in Congress, God willing,” he added.

Chatto is running under the National Unity Party and confirmed there are municipal candidates as well as candidates for Board Member, incumbent board members Aldner Damalerio and Benjie Arcamo along with Jonas Cacho.

Chatto also said that his filing of candidacy as congressman reaffirms his earlier pronouncements that he is not running for governor.

Asked by observers on the simplicity of his filing on Friday’s Kita Ug Atong Kongresista, Chatto said “let’s remind ourselves that true fulfillment lies not in the pomp and pageantry but in the simple connections we build, the kindness we show, and the positive impact we have on those around us.”

Chatto intends to see through the fulfillment of major projects he initiated such as the Governor Celestino Gallares Multi-Specialty Complex in Cortes, the Panglao Island-Tagbilaran City Offshore Bridge Connector, Catagbacan, the Loon Cruise Ship Port, Hall of Justice in Tagbilaran City, Panglao Island Medical Center in Tawala, and the Bohol Island State University Tourism and Sports Institute in Balilihan Campus, among others.

He likewise has a pending House Bill No. 605 filed to establish the Bohol Island Special Economic Zone (BISEZ) in Loon, Calape, Tubigon and Maribojoc.
