BATUAN, Bohol Vice Mayor Atty. Antonino “Dodo” Morala Jumawid (seated, center) presided over a Sangguniang Bayan of Batuan meeting attended by representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the project contractor. This was done during its regular session held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall to address the needs and concerns of residents and ensure public safety. Present were: Engr. Eddilyn O. Avelino and Engr. Evanesto J. Torreon Jr. from the DPWH, and Engr. Ralex Cabatingan fron the contractor’s side. During the session, the SB highlighted key issues regarding the ongoing flood control projects: the safety of day care students in Poblacion Vieja, the welfare of motorists traversing construction areas, and the request for a definite completion schedule. The council also cited reports of deteriorating and collapsing canal structures, which pose greater risk as the rainy season approaches. In a separate report, Councilor Marvin Pancho informed the body that the collection of dues and contributions from members of the Kangwasay Irrigators Association has been suspended. This measure will remain in effect as a condition for the release of seeds and fertilizer assistance to farmers, until the policy is formally approved during the association’s general assembly.
