Gov. Arthur Yap reveals that there are six (6) new coronavirus disease (Covid)- positive cases recorded in Bohol today. He released the statement after receiving reports from the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) molecular laboratory and the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) sub-national laboratory respectively, today,

Five (5) of the new cases are from Bien Unido and the sixth reported case is from Lila town.

The governor said in his statement that the GCGMH reported that the five (5) persons from Malingin Island in Bien Unido town tested positive for Covid. They are considered as community transmission cases as the patients have no travel history and they are neither overseas Filipino workers (OFW) nor locally stranded individual (LSI), the governor said in his report. Two (2) of the patients are products of contact tracing related to the lady Covid-positive patient who gave birth at the Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital (DEDVMH) in Ubay. Moreover, the other three (3) new Covid patients are products of random testing who are residents of the said island. The governor said the entire island is still placed under lockdown as the 3rd generation contact tracing activities have started. Bien Unido mayor Rene Borinaga has been informed about the new cases, the governor said.

On the other hand, one (1) OFW from Lila tested positive for Covid. The patient is now isolated as the contact tracing activities have started with Lila’s Rural Health Unit leading the activities in the cooperation with the Provincial Health Office.
