MANILA.—Interior and Local Government Sec. Eduardo Año contracts coronavirus disease (Covid) again, a statement said as released today, Sunday, August 16, 2020.
The same statement said that the secretary got tested for Covid and got a positive result.
It can be recalled that Año first contracted the disease on March 31, 2020 as he tested positive for Covid. He eventually was deemed recovered following a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) teet on April 13, 2020.
In the statement, the secretary said that he started showing symptoms on August 13, 2020, such as sore throat and body aches. He then got tested via PCR on August 14, 2020 and received the results on the evening of August 15, 2020.
Currently, he said that he is in isolation and being closely monitored by doctors.
Likewise, he urged people who are considered his close contacts to go into self-quarantine, observe any symptoms and take appropriate actions.
Moreover, he opted to reveal his health situation to emphasize the severity of the disease and to encourage everyone to observe the minimum health protocols of physical distancing, washing of hands, and wearing of face masks and face shield especially in public or boarding public utility vehicles.
