Three (3) local government units (LGU) here in the province bag citations in the Digital Governance Awards (DGA) 2020 for their practices in utilizing information and communications technology (ICT) to efficiently deliver public service to their constituents.

In a press release posted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Central Visayas, it said that the awards were held virtually on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020.

The province of Bohol bagged the second prize in the Best in LGU Internal Process Award (Provincial Level).

On the other hand, Tagbilaran City copped the third place for the Best in Business Empowerment Award (City Level).

Likewise, the Municipality of Loon captured the third place in the Best in Covid-19 Pandemic Response Award (Municipality Level).

The only other LGU in Central Visayas that captured a citation in the DGA is Cebu City. Cebu City wins second place in the Best in Business Empowerment Award (City Level).

The DGA is a joint project of the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and the DILG.

The awards commend LGUs in their integration of ICT into their processes and systems to serve as examples and benchmarks for other LGUs.

The DGA aims to inspire LGUs to improve the business development, social services, and the general digital ecosystem of LGUs using ICT, the press release said.

This is the fifth staging of the DGA awards according to information from the NICP.
