City government opens pre-registration to all residents who wish to get free Covid vaccines
The local government unit of Tagbilaran is opening the pre-registration for all residents of the city who wish to get free Coronavirue disease (Covid) vaccine.
This comes as the pre-registration for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWD)started a few weeks back.
The third batch of pre-registration will now cover Tagbilaranons aged 18-59 years who are interested to get the free vaccines procured by the city government.
To pre-register, text your complete name, ID number, and address to the mobile numbers of your respective barangays shown in the picture above.
Getting the vaccine may provide immunity to the said disease.
Current evidence suggests that reinfection with the virus that causes Covid is uncommon 90 days after initial infection.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Covid vaccine will help protect a person from getting infected by creating an antibody (immune system) response without having to experience the symptoms.
CDC said the Covid vaccine will be an important tool to help stop the pandemic.
Wearing masks and practicing social distancing will also help reduce the chance of being exposed to the virus.
Indeed, stopping a pandemic requires using all the tools available. As experts learn more about how the vaccine may help reduce the spread of the disease in communities.
“On top of the health protocols we have instituted, the administration of vaccine is another method to stop the spread of the infection. This is not mandatory, we want Tagbilaranons to have various options available to them and take the best route possible to protect their health”, Mayor John Geesnell Yap II said.

Tagb boosts nutrition awareness in the barangays
Even with the pandemic, the City Government, in partnership with the City Health Office (CHO) is mindful of the nutritional status of residents in the barangays.
Regular lectures about feeding and malnutrition are conducted by City Nutritionist Rey Delos Santos. This is part of the drive in the city government to boost awareness on nutrition.
As a result of the intensified nutrition information drive, the incidence of malnutrition in the city decreased.
According to data, the prevalence of malnutrition in city’s children went down in the second quarter of 2020 compared to the first quarter of the said year.
Delos Santos thanked the barangay officials of Booy for working hard to boost the nutritional health of children aged 0 to 59 months old,
“Despite the pandemic and the very challenging situation, they have managed to keep the malnutrition prevalence rate below 5%. The hard work and dedication they have invested in the program is truly notable”, Delos Santos said.
The efforts of the different Barangay Nutrition Councils were truly instrumental as they continuously support the programs of the city.
Barangay Booy even went further when it launched a supplemental feeding program to the identified malnourished children.
The food supplementation was in a form of hot meals to be served during snack or meal time to children. The program is good for 120 days.
The feeding program will be managed by parents or caregivers using available food supplies.
Children will be weighed at the start at the feeding program and will be weighed anew after 120 days.
The focus of the program is to increase the amount of calories a child receives and to ensure the child gets food packed with vitamins and minerals.
