Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) chief Glenn Doloritos remained mum on the exact status of the office and its employees following the report that an employee tested positive for Coronavirus disease (Covid) saying that he would rather be “proactive” and let the Provincial Health Office (PHO) answer about the health status of his employee on his behalf.
Doloritos was the resource person in the April 22, 2021, episode of Newsmakers hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Gloria Leodivica Araneta.
The program hosts tried to get information from Doloritos about the Covid status of his office, the PGSO, but the latter kept on saying that “he is not in the position to divulge the information” and instead said that the PHO should be the one providing the said information.
Doloritos broke the camel’s back when he declined to provide information whether or not the index case is symptomatic or not. A simple question at that didn’t need the PHO to relay the matter.
According to Doloritos, he is just being proactive about the matter.
He even did not squarely answer the health status of the PGSO employees who at the time of the interview were undergoing the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
Moreover, Doloritos showed a recalcitrant attitude towards answering the questions of the 2 hosts, as the former is expected to be knowledgeable, he, being the head of office of the PGSO.
When the hosts announced the continuation of the interview, Doloritos was heard as saying: “Ga explain bitaw ko sa sitwasyon”. The hosts decided to cut short the interview as no information at all was relayed by the PGSO Head. He simply repeated his statements of:
- “I am not in a position to answer that.”
- “Ang PHO ang angay motubag niana.”
- “Wala ko kahibaw kung aduna bay gi RAT kay ang PHO mao ang nasayud niana.”
Several listeners of the program sent their negative comments about the interview through chat and text to the program hosts who decided to go on with the interview following the way Doloritos answered the last questions which ran this way:
- Host – Unsay may kundisyon, Sir, sa Covid positive na kawani:
asymptomatic or symptomatic?
- Doloritos – Wala ra ba ko kahibaw ana.
- Host – Wala diay ka makahibaw sa kundisyon sa imong mga tawo sa opisina, Sir.
- Doloritos – Ang PHO man gud ang nakahibaw niana.
- Host – Ug wala ka kahibaw, Sir, nganong gi lockdown man ang imong opisina?
- Doloritos – Ang PHO ang makatubag niana.
- Host – Tinuod ba, Sir, nga adunay gi subject sa Rapit Antigen Test” Pila ka buok?
To this question, no answer was still given.
In another development, Asst. PHO Dr. Tomas Cesar Lopez on Friday said that around 14 PGSO employees tested positive for Covid infection via the polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
The 14 employees who tested positive are already isolated, according to Lopez.
This matter about the Covid positive employees of PGSO was also asked in the interview, nut Doloritos said that he does not know anything about the health status of the employees.
This brings us to the question: Is being proactive, as head of office, tantamount to not knowing basic information in that office?
If indeed, Doloritos claims to be proactive, then why did it seem that he is not knowledgeable about the health condition of his personnel? He even said that he is being proactive which, according to him, means that what he is interested in is the now and the future and not the past, referring to the history of the covid case employee.
Another question is at hand: “Is he afraid of something, a reason he always passed on the responsibility of reporting to the PHO?
On Friday, The Bohol Tribune aired to Gov. Arthur Yap the recalcitrant attitude of Doloritos in answering questions of the media.
Yap said that he is going to remind all offices in the provincial government to be cooperative.
“I want to assure our media partners that the provincial government views you [the media] as partners, and you are very important at this time of Covid-19,” the governor told The Bohol Tribune.
