Mayor Tita Baja

Garcia-Hernandez mayor Tita Baja told The Bohol Tribune , today, Monday, June 7, 2021, that she did not personally issue the permit regarding the rental of the truck owned by the local government unit (LGU) allegedly used in the transport of illegally quarried sand.

In a telephone interview conducted by The Bohol Tribune, Baja said she is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the issue where an LGU-owned truck was rented to haul alleged illegally extracted sand.

The issue stems from an operation conducted by the Bohol Environmental Protection Task Force (BEPTF) that led to the interception of a truck, allegedly owned by the LGU of Garcia-Hernandez carrying three cubic meters of sand on June 4, 2021.

The BEPTF team that intercepted the truck carrying sand was led by retired Col. Alex Maglajos.

Allegedly, the driver of the said truck, a certain John Dante Salva, was carrying sand, which was allegedly illegally extracted.

The police report from Garcia Hernandez police station said that the said truck driver was unable to present a delivery receipt to the members of the BEPTF.

The report adds that a certain Ritchel Ochavillo, allegedly rented the said truck owned by the LGU.
