Vice Gov. Rene Lopez Relampagos and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol (SP) are requesting the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for another round of Passport on Wheels program here.

The request for another round of Passport on Wheels is necessary in order to accommodate more Boholanos who wish to apply for a passport or renew their old ones.

The SP approved on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, a resolution asking the DFA to have another round of Passport on Wheels program here in the last quarter of this year 2022.

According to Relampagos, the number of slots given to Boholanos in the first round of Passport on Wheels is not enough to accommodate all those who wanted to avail ot the service offered by the DFA.

According to the Bohol Employment and Placement Office (BEPO), there are many Boholanos still hoping to get slots so they can avail of the passporting service being rendered by the DFA.

BEPO chief Vilma Yorong said during the SP’s pre-session meeting, the Passport on Wheels service that was conducted on March 14 to 17, 2022, was able to process the application of 1,947 passport applicants.

Yorong added that a number of Boholanos is clamoring for another round of Passport on Wheels.

Furthermore, Yorong said she and other officials of the province have already made an initial discussion with DFA officials. She revealed the possibility of having another round of Passport on Wheels by the third quarter of 2022.

Moreover, Yorong conveyed to the SP that Provincial Administrator Kathyrin Pioquinto has said the provincial government is looking to have another Passport on Wheels here before 2022 ends.

Meanwhile, Relampagos expressed that the SP is supporting the initiative for another round of Passport on Wheels so that Boholanos who were not afforded the opportunity to process their passport applications can be given a chance to avail of the passporting service on the next round.
