The leadership of Bohol’s capital city, Tagbilaran, provided rapid response to aid the victims of the fire that razed to the ground 56 houses and left three people dead in Brgy. Poblacion 2 in Tagbilaran City.

The fire erupted early morning of Dec. 23, 2022 along Gallares street. Poblacion 2 and Mayor Jane Yap wasted no time to let the victims feel the presence of the City Government of Tagbilaran.

The local chief executive immediately tasked the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to ensure the safety of the affected residents.

CDRRMO head Gerard Lavadia immediately activated the Incident Command System, which automatically mobilized the city’s rescue units and communication team to aid the fire victims.

Once the affected residents were settled in the evacuation center, Mayor Jane Yap and former Mayor John Geesnell Yap II attended to the former’s needs.

Relief goods were immediately distributed, as the City Government provided modular tents, disaster kits, pillows, mats, plates, slippers, and medicines to be used by the evacuees. Moreover, hot meals and bottles of water were also provided to the victims of the fire.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) immediately did the profiling of the victims so they can receive immediate calamity assistance. Mayor Jane Yap even issued a call to people for the latter to donate clothes, ready-to-eat food, toiletries, and beddings for the fire victims.

The day after the fire incident, Tagbilaranons responded to the call and delivered their donations to the City Hall Atrium.

Assistance from both the provincial and national governments also came in to aid the victims of the fire.
