City Mayor Jane Yap was the solemnizing officer in the annual free civil mass wedding conducted by the City Government and held on Feb. 14, 2023 at the Saulog Gymnasium with Supervising Statistical Specialist Jocelyn Sarmiento from the Philippine Statistics Authority assisting the mayor.

“Make every effort to understand your spouse. Since you came from different backgrounds, disagreements are unavoidable. So always bear in mind your commitment to each other. Never allow these little misunderstandings to ruin your relationship, let love win,” Mayor Yap emphasized.

Local Civil Registry Head Jubelyn Pulgarinas said each couple was provided with a rice cooker, wine, 2-layered wedding cake, bouquet, corsage, and a full hair and make-up services.

The bridal gown, veil, the groom’s barong, and slacks were also provided by the City Government.

The mayor and Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala gave 10 kilos of rice to each couple after which the mini-party was held. The expenses for the snack were also shouldered by the city government.

This initiative is pursuant to Proclamation 682 which declares the month of February of every year as Civil Registration Month.

The celebration of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Month enhances public awareness on the importance of civil registry documents.
