A Tokyo-based startup that offers AI disaster and crisis management solutions visited Bohol on Wednesday to present its technology to the provincial government and local businesses.
Spectee Inc., which is supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), aims to protect people from all “crises” by using social media data integrated with government and business facilities to visualize and respond to disasters efficiently and effectively.
The company’s COO Negoro Satoshi, along with Kobayashi Kaori, met with Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, Chief of staff Atty. Filipina Asoy-Piollo, Board Member Tomas Abapo, and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Anthony Damalerio at the Governor’s Office.
They also co-hosted a seminar with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to introduce their technology to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) under a feasibility project in partnership with JICA.
Caberte expressed her appreciation for Spectee’s visit and said that Bohol is open to adopting innovative solutions that can enhance its disaster resilience and preparedness.
Satoshi said that Spectee’s technology can help Bohol cope with natural hazards such as earthquakes, typhoons, floods, landslides, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis by providing real-time information and analysis.
He added that Spectee also uses artificial intelligence to improve disaster response by reducing the time to assess damage, monitoring social media for urgent needs, and delivering aid more quickly and effectively.
