The city government of Tagbilaran, through the City Social
Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), in its efforts
to address the pressing issues of violence against women
and children, organized a Capability Development
Seminar on Anti-Violence Against Women and Children
and Online Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Children.
The seminar, held on July 10, 2023 at JJ’s Seafood
Village, was attended by members of the City Council for
the Protection of Children (CCPC) and City Committee on
Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their
Children (CCAT-VAWC).
The primary objective of this activity was to enhance the
knowledge and understanding of the council members
regarding the critical issues surrounding women and
children in our society.
By equipping them with comprehensive insights, the
CSWDO aimed to strengthen its capacity to formulate
effective policies and implement relevant programs and
activities that address the current and emerging concerns
faced by women and children in Tagbilaran City.
Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap, represented by City
Councilor Gemma Inting, who is the Chairperson of the SP
Committee on Women and Children, commended the City
Social Welfare and Development Office and all the council
members for their dedication to protecting the rights and
welfare of women and children.
Councilor Inting reiterated Mayor Yap’s unwavering
commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment
for all residents of Tagbilaran City.

The seminar featured esteemed speakers who shared
their expertise on the subject matter.
Assistant Prosecutor Adolfo M. Doroy from the Office of
the City Prosecutor delivered a comprehensive
presentation and detailed analysis of the legal basis and
pertinent issues surrounding anti-violence against women
and children.
In addition, Ms. Janice Sofia Talip, Bohol Project
coordinator of End Child Prostitution and Trafficking
(ECPAT) Philippines, shed light on the dangers and
preventive measures needed to combat online sexual
exploitation and abuse of children.
The capability development seminar exemplifies the city
government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare and
rights of women and children. By equipping the council
members with essential knowledge and understanding,
Tagbilaran City is taking significant strides towards
creating a safer and more inclusive environment for all its
residents.
