The young leaders of Tagbilaran City gathered for the 2023 Sangguniang Kabataan
(SK) Congress held from August 12 to 14, 2023 at Modala Resort in Panglao.
The event brought together SK chairpersons, council members, treasurers, and
secretaries from all 15 barangays of Tagbilaran, providing a platform for collaboration,
learning and the development of initiatives aimed at empowering the city’s youth.
Mayor Jane Yap, in her statement of support, expressed her commitment to the youth
and their growth as leaders.
She said: “The SK Congress is an important opportunity for our youth to come together,
learn, and contribute to the betterment of our city. I am confident that this congress will
empower our young leaders to create positive change and play an active role in the
progress of Tagbilaran.”
Mayor Yap also acknowledged SK Tagbilaran City Federated President Glicelle Mariz
Policianos for her exemplary leadership and dedication to serving her fellow youth.
The mayor congratulated Policianos for her outstanding efforts and encouraged her to
continue being an inspiration to her peers.
The three-day congress facilitated by the City Youth Development Office headed by Mr.
Marbert Remolador, featured a series of engaging discussions, workshops, and
activities that aimed to enhance the leadership skills, knowledge, and capabilities of the
young participants.
The distinguished speakers included City Budget Officer Marysol Perocho and City
Accountant Eleanor Beniga who shared valuable insights on financial management and
governance.
Participants actively engaged in workshop sessions focused on crafting the City Youth
Development Plan and the Annual Barangay Youth Investment Program, further
demonstrating their commitment to contributing to the city’s progress.
The SK Congress is an annual gathering of youth leaders that underscores their vital
role in local governance and community development.
By providing a platform for education, collaboration, and strategic planning, the City
