Bohol joined the nationwide celebration of the Philippine Cooperative Month with a kick-off program held at the New Capitol Building on October 2, 2023.

The event, which was attended by 256 people from 34 cooperatives, highlighted the theme “Cooperatives: Pioneering the Path to Recovery Amidst Modern Challenges of Climate Change and Food Security.”

The kick-off program started with a motorcade from Tagbilaran City Hall to the New Capitol Building, where cooperative leaders and members gathered for the opening ceremony.

The program featured messages from various speakers, including Governor Aris Aumentado, who emphasized the role of cooperatives in environmental sustainability and food security amidst the pressing challenges of the climate crisis.

In the afternoon, a cooperative trade showcase was launched at Carlos P. Garcia Park by 18 cooperatives, displaying various products ranging from fresh produce to handicrafts.

The showcase, which will run from October 2 to 13, aims to present the various commodities that local cooperatives can offer to the general public. The showcase also serves as a venue for cooperative networking and marketing.

The Philippine Cooperative Month is celebrated every October to recognize the contributions of cooperatives in nation-building and social development.
