Qualified solo parents in Tagbilaran City received P3,000 in cash assistance and five kilograms of rice during the city’s first-ever cash subsidy distribution on October 21, 2026.
The distribution was held at the Poblacion 2 Covered Court in Tagbilaran City.
Mayor Jane Yap led the launching and distribution, together with City Social Welfare and Development Office Officer-in-Charge Angelina Costan.
Under the program, each qualified beneficiary is entitled to a monthly subsidy of P1,000, released quarterly amounting to P3,000 every three months.
The beneficiaries also received five kilograms of rice during the distribution.
Tagbilaran City is the first local government unit in Bohol to implement a cash subsidy program specifically for qualified solo parents under Republic Act No. 11861, or the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act.
The initiative is anchored on Tagbilaran City Ordinance No. C-359, authored by City Councilor Gemma Inting, which localizes the benefits for solo parents and adopts the salient provisions of Republic Act No. 11861.
Mayor Yap recognized the challenges faced by solo parents who shoulder the responsibility of raising their children and providing for their families.
She emphasized that the city government acknowledges their sacrifices and wants them to know that they are not alone in facing life’s difficulties.
The cash subsidy forms part of the City Government of Tagbilaran’s social welfare initiatives aimed at providing assistance to qualified solo parents and supporting the needs of Tagbilaranon families.
