Tagbilaran City celebrates Women’s Month with opening of Women’s Bazaar
Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap officiated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the Women’s Bazaar at the City Hall Grounds on March 4, 2024 to usher in the vibrant celebration of Women’s Month.
The event brought together exhibitors from various women’s groups and local enterprises, showcasing an array of locally grown products, food items, and non-food products.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was also participated in by Mayor Jane Yap, joined by department heads, symbolizing the city’s dedication to recognizing and empowering women in various sectors.
The Women’s Bazaar serves as a platform for women entrepreneurs, including the Tagbilaran Young Workers Association, Bohol Purple Women’s Group, KBoom/Egay’s Farm, Kalipi Upcycling Resource Entrepreneurs, Alva’s Food, and representatives from the 15 barangays of the City.
“Women’s Month is not just a celebration; it’s a testament to the invaluable contributions of women in our community. The Women’s Bazaar and the array of activities throughout March are avenues for recognizing their talents, entrepreneurship, and overall strength. Let this month be a reminder that Tagbilaran City stands in solidarity with its women, promoting their empowerment and ensuring their voices are heard,” remarked Mayor Yap during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The month long festivities commenced with a First Friday mass on March 1, attended by city government employees and representatives from women’s groups- KALIPI and Tagbilaran City Women’s Association. On March 4, a walk for a cause from ICM car park to City Hall grounds took place, followed by an all-women-led flag ceremony.
Activities throughout March included the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8. Events during the day included the oath-taking of the officers of the Tagbilaran City Garments Manufacturers Association, a talk on nurturing the future in collaboration with the Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility (TCPCF) and the Tagbilaran City Private and Public Schools Federated Parents-Teachers Association, and a Zumba Dance at the City Hall atrium.
The Women’s Month celebration continues with Serbisyo Para Kay Juana Medikal on March 14, in partnership with TCPCF, and a JCY Webinar – Essence for Responsible Parenthood in Women’s Empowerment on March 15, in collaboration with the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
The culmination of Women’s Month on March 22 will feature a diverse program, including a folk dance contest, fashion show, personality development sessions, and a makeup demonstration.
The city anticipates the active participation of women from all walks of life in these empowering and enriching activities.

Tagbilaran City continues educational support with school uniform distribution
Led by City Mayor Jane Yap, the City Government of Tagbilaran, in its desire to highlight its unwavering commitment to educational empowerment, distributed school uniforms to students of Bool Elementary School and Dampas Elementary School on March 4, 2024 and in Dao Elementary School, San Isidro Bool Elementary School, Tiptip Elementary School, Manga Elementary School and Ubujan Elementary School on March 6, 2024.
This event marks another round of distributions, building on the success of previous efforts to provide essential resources for the city’s young learners.
Mayor Yap emphasized the pivotal role education plays in shaping the city’s future.
She said, “Our continued commitment to providing school uniforms reflects our belief that every Tagbilaranon student deserves an equal opportunity to thrive in the classroom. By addressing this practical need, we contribute to creating an environment where learning is accessible and enjoyable for all.”
Understanding the financial challenges faced by families, Mayor Yap initiated this ongoing program to ensure that every student has access to the fundamental tools needed for a productive and confident learning experience.
The distribution of school uniforms not only alleviates the burden on parents, but also promotes a sense of identity and unity among students.
This distribution of uniforms was organized in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) led by Dr. Wilfreda Bongalos, Schools Division Superintendent of the City Schools Division of Tagbilaran City, along with school principals, teachers and DepEd personnel.
As city students received their new uniforms, the impact of Mayor Yap’s dedication to enhancing the educational landscape of Tagbilaran City resonated with parents, and educators.
The initiative aligns with the city’s vision of fostering a nurturing environment that supports the holistic development of its young residents.
