Tagbilaran city mayor John Geesnell Yap II reports that another locally stranded individual (LSI) came out positive of Covid infection via the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
He revealed the information via a Facebook post late afternoon today, Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
The mayor added that the new Covid positive person is asymptomatic.
He added that the person is now in an isolation area.
A check with City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc revealed her confirmation of the new Covid pisitive LSI.
She said the LSI is a 30-year-old male from Lindaville Subd.
She further added that the LSI arrived from Cebu on June 6, 2020.
Pondoc said contact tracing is being done to determine the LSI’s direct contacts in the vessel. The LSI arrived here in Bohol via a sea trip.
The latest result is a product of the mass testing done by the city government on the LSIs that have returned here.
The city subjects the LSIs to PCR tests even if testing is not strictly required per national guidelines from the Inter Agency Task Force and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
The mayor did not reveal more details on the personal circumstance of the new Covid patient.
Currently, there are five active Covid cases in Tagbilaran City: Two (2) medical workers and three (3) LSIs are Covid infected. This is based on the tracking and monitoring of The Bohol Tribune.
