A new restaurant featuring a garden-inspired design is set to open in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, on Oct. 2, 2026 adding to a cluster of dining and leisure businesses along J.A. Clarin Street.
Floranta Restaurant, part of the KEW Group of Companies, will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing attended by banking industry officials, according to the restaurant’s management.
The restaurant is located at the WE Restaurant Complex in the Dampas district, next to SURA Samgyupsal House and across from Kraig Pickleball House.
The area has seen a series of openings tied to the same business group.
SURA Samgyupsal House, a Korean-style grilled meat restaurant, opened in December 2025, while Kraig Pickleball House was later developed nearby as a recreational venue.
The group also operates KEW Hotel in Tagbilaran and has reported plans for a 10-story, 120-room hotel in nearby Panglao.
Floranta’s design centers on extensive greenery and a pond fitted with a misting system, intended to create a garden-like atmosphere inside the restaurant.
Management said the concept was designed to offer guests a contrast to the busy commercial street outside.
The restaurant’s food program is being led by chef Jenzel Fontilla, known for his work at The Monkey Bar at BE Grand Resort Bohol in Panglao, where his menus have featured Boholano ingredients prepared with contemporary techniques.
Fontilla trained in culinary arts and hospitality in Davao and has worked in fine-dining kitchens in Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong.
In earlier interviews, he has said his cooking in Bohol has been shaped by local ingredients such as seafood, native cheese and asin tibuok, a traditional Boholano salt.
Dishes planned for Floranta include sangkutsa, Hong Shao Rou adobo, crispy kare-kare and ginataang kalabasa, combining traditional Filipino dishes with other Asian culinary influences.
Along J.A. Clarin Street, Floranta will operate near SURA, which focuses on communal Korean barbecue dining, and Kraig, a pickleball venue. Its management has positioned the restaurant’s atmosphere, rather than a particular cuisine or activity, as its main distinguishing feature.
