She also recognized the farmers as the backbone of the community, who work hard to provide food and income. She assured them that the local government unit (LGU) will continue to support their needs and aspirations, and help them improve their skills and productivity. She said that this will benefit not only Carmen, but also the entire province of Bohol.

Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 7 Regional Director Angel Enriquez graced the occasion as the guest of honor and speaker. He lauded the town’s efforts in promoting and enhancing its agricultural sector, and pledged the DA’s assistance and partnership.

Meanwhile, Board Member Nathaniel Binlod, who hails from Carmen, expressed his support and appreciation for the town’s leadership and initiatives. He also proposed to pass a provincial ordinance that will institutionalize an Agriculture and Fishery celebration in every town and in the province during their founding anniversaries.

The celebration also included the crowning of the Diwata sa Barangay, a beauty pageant that featured representatives from each barangay. The winner was from Barangay Vallehermoso, while the first and second runners-up were from Barangays Nueva Vida Sur and La Paz, respectively. Mayor Delos Reyes, Vice-Mayor Bigay, and Board Member Binlod awarded the prizes and sashes to the winners.
