A Chinese tourist was assaulted and robbed by an unidentified suspect while visiting a popular attraction in Loay, Bohol on Friday morning.

According to the police, the victim, a 25-year-old woman from Chongqing, China, was riding a rented motorcycle to Morning Hills, a scenic spot overlooking the Loboc River, when a man suddenly approached her and grabbed her private parts.

The suspect then snatched her bag, which contained US$500, an iPhone, a credit card, Php2,000 cash, her passport and driver’s license, and fled the scene.

The victim immediately reported the incident to the Loay Police Station, where she underwent a medical examination and gave her statement.

The police are now conducting a manhunt operation to locate and arrest the suspect, who is described as wearing a black jacket, a red cap, and a face mask.

The police also appealed to the public to help identify the suspect by providing any information or CCTV footage that may be related to the case.

The victim, who arrived in the Philippines on February 28, was supposed to fly back to China on March 4.

She is now seeking assistance from the Chinese Embassy to facilitate her travel documents and arrangements.

The Loay Tourism Office expressed its condemnation and regret over the incident, and assured the victim and the public that it will take measures to improve the security and safety of the tourists visiting the town.
