Unverified accounts have surfaced, alleging that fellow Filipino crew members were involved in the untimely demise of Seaman Gerfe Cadeliña, a resident of Sierra Bullones, Bohol.

Last week’s incident occurred aboard the MV Silver Lake, a vessel docked in the United Kingdom.

According to initial reports, Cadeliña was discovered lifeless in the ship’s bathroom, with indications pointing to suicide.

However, his wife, Erah, vehemently disputes this conclusion.

She asserted that her husband had no apparent reason to take his own life and suspected foul play.

A distant relative of the victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, claims that Gerfe’s mother disclosed a shocking revelation.

Allegedly, one of the victim’s companions confessed to being involved in Cadeliña’s death, along with five other seamen. The veracity of this statement is currently under scrutiny.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Erah is expecting their child.

She said in a Facebook post that Gerfe was eagerly anticipating his return home, especially with the impending birth later this year.

She said that her unwavering conviction demands a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind her husband’s demise.

As this develops, the Boholano community remains on edge, awaiting further developments.

The electrician was reportedly found with a rope around his neck in an apparent suicide.

The report said there were no signs of other injuries indicating a struggle.

But his family believe there could have been other factors involved.

“It was suspected of being work-related. Maybe there was foul play because I don’t believe that he will commit suicide because his plans for us are serious,” the newspaper quoted Cadelina’s wife, Erah, as saying.

No suicide note was found in the seafarer’s possession or in his cabin.

Erah said she last spoke to her husband on 27 June and he had not shown any signs of distress.

Cadelina, who had been working on vessels for eight years, was planning to request leave to return home for the birth of his fourth child in November, his wife added.

UK authorities were due to perform a post-mortem examination.
